Oprah talks about watching her grandmother hanging out the washing as she was little girl growing up in Mississippi in the 1950s. Her grandmother would tell her, “Oprah Gail, you better watch me now, ’cause one day you gon’ have to know how to do this for yourself.”
But she always had a little voice in her head saying “that will not be me”. Her grandmother’s best wish for her was to get a job in a home with good white folk. She knew nothing else.
The path to success is only possible if you believe your worth.
